Terry, this is a wonderful collection of video clips and great to here from you. Â You must have been literally shaking with excitement. Snow Leopard is right at the top of my wishlist for sure! Â How rare to get a pair so comfortable that you were able to film them relaxed instead of one scampering up a rock face away fom you. Two weekends ago I took 40+ students out to a place called Paul Lake Provincial Park. Â Along the road there (25 minute drive) we ran into this sow Black Bear and 2 cubs. Â This photo was taken from my bus seat over the head of all the students 🙂 btw: Â fly fishing is rapidly becoming my number one hobby again…..birding can be done while fishing but the fly fishing is simply unreal here. Â Large trout in most of the lakes here. Â Two nights ago I beat a muskrat over the head with my fishing pole. Â Apparently I look like a small island or nice rock in my float tube out on a lake and it kept trying to climb out on to me. Â Flyfishing at dusk on a calm lake with Loons, Scaup, Goldeneye, Beavers, Muskrats, Coyotes, and the odd owl around me….hard to beat! Â Of all the places for Maple Leaf to put a school 🙂 Â I’m not able to attach a funny Iphone movie of a beaver trying to scare me away in my float tube from its domain on the lake — size too big. Â I’ll throw in a photo of one of the trout. Anyway, living naturally large here in Kamloops, BC! Tom

Great to see these beautiful creatures! You were certainly being watched too, but they seemed to feel quite safe where they were. It’s so interesting to see how their camouflage is so suited to that rocky environment.
Thank you, Gretchen. Yes, the Snow Leopards certainly knew we were there! We were careful to keep a good distance so as not to disturb them and we were pleased that they were still in the same place, seemingly relaxed, when we left after around two hours. Their camouflage is, as you say, very well-suited to their environment. If they don’t move or break the horizon with their profile, they are incredibly hard to see!
