In April I took a journalist from The Global Times – Jiang Yuxia – to Ma Chang to experience birdwatching as part of her research into birding in Beijing.

Yuxia has subsequently written and published this article.
It’s a good read with honourable mentions for a few of Beijing’s birders!
This article follows a similar article in The China Daily a few weeks ago and reflects the growing interest in birding among Chinese citizens – a welcome development in a country with serious environmental challenges.
A big thank you to Yuxia for a well-written and positive article about birding!
Excellent. I’m sure greater public participation and awareness are the keys to a better environmental future for China. Well done yet again , Terry.
Thanks Ken! I am hoping Yuxia will write a follow-up about Jankowski’s Bunting… going to invite her to lunch next week… 🙂
Excellent thinking. JB needs as many people as possible to know about its plight. Good luck with that.
Very nice article. I hope that these kinds of pieces are coming out in Chinese too. (Shi Jin had some nice references earlier to crisis situations – these kind of general interest articles are really valuable too.)
Hi Gretchen. I am hoping, at some point, to have the whole blog in Chinese… but that’s a little way off at the moment.. will look for a sponsor first! I met with The Global Times today and they are interested in running a piece on Jankowski’s Bunting following the survey next week. Watch this space!
Hats off to what you’ve been doing with the bunting. It’s really really great! Hope more ppl can get involved. Would love to help with the chinese blog whenever you start!
Thanks Yuxia! And thanks again for writing the article. I’ll be in touch about the Chinese version of the blog… 🙂
Yuxia,
Sorry Terry and other reader, I wrote in chinese. I have just some suggestions on the possible topics for more amazing articles.

More power to your arm Terry, great stuff!
Thanks Chris… Yuxia deserves all the credit… hoping we can publish regular birding-related articles in the future!
