About 六月 (LiuYue)

六月 (LiuYue) is the third cuckoo, and the second female, to be fitted with a tag at Yeyahu in 2017.  She weighed 84g and was named by a public vote organised by the Beijing Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre.  六月 (LiuYue) means “June”.  We expect 六月 (LiuYue) to remain at Yeyahu for the summer before heading to Africa in the autumn.  六月 (LiuYue) was released by Aodan from the BWRRC (see video below with Chris Hewson humour!).

Updates:

9 June 2017

We have received only two signals from 六月 (LiuYue)’s tag since the tag was fitted.  The signals show the temperature of the bird is normal, strongly suggesting that the issue is with tag functionality rather than the bird’s wellbeing.  We’ll be able to make a better assessment of the state of the tag in a few days.  In the meantime, we all hope for more signals.
